End-to-end encrypted chat between Claude Code users in a pane: direct chats, groups, read receipts and linked devices, with no server to run.
Notice
Sends sealed messages to ntfy.sh and starts curl to receive them when curl is available. Both people need buddy-chat installed. It installs from its own repository's marketplace, not from Anthropic's.
What it does
Run /buddy to open the pane. Set your name and username, copy your add line and send it to a friend in any app. Your friend pastes it into Add contact, you accept the request in People, and the chat opens.
In the Desktop app the pane is a chat list beside the open chat, with message bubbles. In the terminal it is a keyboard-first layout: j and k mark a message, and e, x, f and c edit, delete, forward to Claude and copy it. Claude can also send a message for you with the send_to_buddy tool, and you confirm each one.
How it works
Each ID has an ntfy.sh topic that comes from a hash of the ID. To send, the mod posts a sealed message to the recipient's topic. One session on each computer receives for that computer, through one open request held by curl, or by polling every 8 seconds when curl is not available.
The hooks are session.start, command.run, tool.call, ui.render, ui.scroll, ui.message and ui.close. The mod keeps its keys, contacts and messages in Claude Code's plugin store on your computer. Run claude plugin validate . in the repository to see every call the hooks make.
